my dream job is to be a travel the world, try different culinary creations, and write about it.
but i'm still a college student, so my dreams will have to wait.
meanwhile, a food blog chronicling my culinary adventures will suffice.

Combo Sandwich 8.50
Dungeness crab and bay shrimp on sourdough with lettuce, tomato, and green onion.

Clam Chowder 2.95
8 oz. - supposedly best of La Jolla and on the West coast.
Notes: A restaurant within a fish market, so guaranteed to be freshest seafood around. The combo of shrimp and crab brought out of taste of the sea, and was surprisingly fulling. The clam chowder was loaded with clams and potato and wasn’t too creamy, but lacked salt. Next time, I am trying the cioppino, the other soup that they’re known for.
El Pescador Fish Restaurant

Grilled Lounge Burger and 1/2 + 1/2 12.90 (w/o tax+tip)
grass-fed beef grilled to medium, sandwiched between lettuce, tomato, fresh onion, thousand island dressing, and white cheddar; a side order of fries and onion rings
Notes: The meat patty in the burger was of a different texture than regular burgers, which is less crumbly, but lacked flavor. However, the bun was nice and fluffy, and the white cheddar complemented the meat quite well. The onion rings were the best that I’ve ever had, and the fries tasted amazing with their fries.
Burger Lounge
La Jolla, CA

Regular Coffee and the Trophy Wife
Macadamia nut latte with whipped cream
Notes: This latte is essentially tasty, except that it becomes a little overwhelmingly sweet at the end. Definitely a must-try if you crave something other than your standard latte.
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters
La Jolla, CA

Panwich and Soup Combo 7.95
Corn and potato chowder with turkey and cheese on sourdough bread, loaded with veggies.
Notes: The soup needed salt, but the sandwich was at most decent. The cafe had a nice patio to just sit and enjoy a beautiful summer day, so it’s probably a better place to read a book and sip on coffee/tea. Watch out for birds, though, who aren’t afraid to fly around you.
Pannikin Coffee & Tea
La Jolla, CA

Tropical White Wine Sangria - 5 (happy hour)
Notes: The white wine sangria was definitely different than what I’ve had in Spain. Loved the lychee that absorbed all the alcohol in the drink concoction.

Guava Quesadilla - 6 (happy hour)
Notes: The cheese quesadilla is infused with guava jam, creating a combination of sweet and savory flavors.
Wet Stone Winebar & Cafe
Banker’s Hill
San Diego, CA
Chicken w/ a Garlic Mushroom Cream Sauce
On a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus
Notes: I came here this weekend for a friend’s formal. The mushroom cream sauce was absolutely delicious, capturing the essence of garlic. Asparagus was lacking in flavor
The Westin San Diego
San Diego, CA
Frrrozen Hot Chocolate 8.95
Notes: Pure ecstasy in my mouth.
Serendipity3 (Caesar’s Palace)
Las Vegas, NV
Polish Pastrami Swiss Cheese Dog with Jalapenos 7.95
Notes: Polish dog was packed with flavor. Jalapenos gave over taste an extra kick. Could not taste the swiss cheese, and the pastrami was hard to chew.
Pink’s Hot Dogs (Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino)
Las Vegas, NV
Nachos Grande del Jefe 14.95
Notes: The perfect snack after a bout of drinking.
The Tequila Bar (Bally’s Las Vegas)
